More now expect house prices to fall

Posted by Tamara Littlejohn On October - 25 - 2010

PESSIMISM over house prices now outweighs optimism among buyers in Wales – for the first time, according to research published today.

In a study which furthers the gloom in the housing market, more people think there will be a downward trend in prices, rather than upwards.

And it led to predictions of more stagnation in the market, which has been a hallmark of the property sector in the last year.

Property website Rightmove’s quarterly consumer confidence survey found that “a combination of factors have conspired to undermine the confidence of some and cause a ‘sentiment split’ that leaves the more immediate price outlook uncertain”.

For the first time since the inception of the survey in January 2009, the price pessimists outnumber price optimists by 31% to 27%.

Rightmove said it represents a “dramatic jump” in the past year in the proportion of people believing prices will be lower in 12 months’ time, from 11% in October 2009 to 31% this quarter.

Miles Shipside, director of Rightmove, said: “If you saw such an even distribution in opinion after using an ‘ask the audience’, you’d probably follow very quickly by using your ‘phone a friend’.

“This time last year 57% of respondents to our survey asserted that house prices would be higher in a year’s time and that proved to be an accurate forecast.

“However, this quarter the majority is gone and opinion is divided. It’s unusual to see such a split, b

FAQ / ERISA Information:
How long does the disability insurance company have to make a claim decision once the application for ERISA long term disability benefits is submitted?

The Department of Labor has drafted regulations which provide that a disability claim must be resolved, at the initial level, within 45 days of receipt of a complete application; a plan may, however, extend that decisionmaking period for an additional 30 days for reasons beyond the control of the plan.

If, after extending the time period for a first period of 30 days, the plan administrator determines that it will still be unable, for reasons beyond the control of the plan, to make the decision within the extension period, the plan may extend decisionmaking for a second 30-day period

FAQ / ERISA Information:
Why is ERISA an unfair law for disability insurance claimants?

ERISA stands for the Employer Retirement Income Security Act and it was a Federal law that was passed in the early 1970s which was supposed to make it more affordable for employers to be able to offer long term disability coverage as well as health insurance for employees.

Disability Insurance Attorneys Gregory Dell and Stephen Jessup discuss the numerous reasons that ERISA is an unfair law that can negatively impact the thousands of people that file disability insurance claims each year.

Disability Case:
First Unum terminates long-term disability benefits after 4 years of paying and SSDI approval

In a recent Federal Court decision in favor of First Unum, the Court validated the right of a long-term disability insurance plans to rely upon functional capacity evaluations (FCE) as a basis for determining whether or not the claimant has the right to continue receiving disability insurance benefits.

Fees for broadcasters may limit online TV

Posted by Dale R On October - 23 - 2010

AP () — — Free online TV is taking a hit from spats over fees for broadcasters.

Fox, ABC, NBC and CBS blocked access to their programming online this month in separate fee disputes to enforce their demands to be paid. Broadcasters think they can make more money from cable TV providers if they hold back some programming online.

That could mean new limits on online viewing are coming. Broadcasters might make fewer of their shows available to begin with. They could also delay when they become available, perhaps a month after an episode is broadcast, rather than the few hours it typically takes now.
